Thank You – April 2020

Dear volunteer,

The work of volunteers powers communities. It powers all of the work we do as DreamCatchers, and we could not be more grateful for our volunteers.

Whether we are fulfilling Dreams in the best of times, or finding ways to connect during difficult times, we are so lucky to have the network of volunteers making such an impact on those who need it most. Our student chapters and volunteers are the life and blood of this organization, and without you all, we would simply be an idea without shape. We are constantly inspired by the passion that our volunteers show each and every day, as you find new ways to serve people you’ve never even met, and who many would choose to ignore.

DreamCatchers was born out of a 15-year-old’s idea to grant Dreams, and has grown into so much more. The number of lives we have touched because of our student chapters, community volunteers, board members, leadership team, and anyone who has ever given to this organization in time or resources, has grown into the thousands- and only continues to increase.

While our primary mission remains connecting generations through Dream fulfillment for the terminally ill on hospice or palliative care, this year has brought several pivots due to the current world situation that has eliminated all in-person experiences. Thanks to the enthusiasm from volunteers everywhere, we have been able to continue impacting those who need it most throughout this isolation through our Kindness & Compassion Initiative. We have been inspired by the massive response to this Initiative, from volunteers around the country- giving us hope that together we can create a dent in the growing problem of senior isolation and loneliness.

We appreciate our volunteers every day because they power DreamCatchers (and really, the world!). But today, during National Volunteer Week, we wanted to take a moment to share with you just how much.

Thank you.

Thank you for your time

Thank you for the Dreams

Thank you for your passion

Thank you for caring

Thank you for being you.

Keep spreading the Dream,

Caitlin, Elaine, and the rest of the Dream Team
